So, I’ve tried this a few times now and have yet to be successful. Have you heard of those photo-a-day challenges? I’ve seen them on Instagram, and have tried (very unsuccessfully, by the way) to follow along and participate, but I usually poop out around day 5. NOT THIS TIME! I’m going to do it!
The picture to the left is my day 1 photo for the word Inspire. I am inspired by color, design and FABRIC. Get me in a fabric store and my mind explodes with inspiration — so many ideas! I always buy more than I went there for, and unfortunately have a lot that I haven’t even touched yet. But they are waiting for me patiently, and will one day become something super cute.
Anyway, back to the challenge. If you have no idea what I’m talking about, let me fill you in, and maybe you can join me!
The idea is this: At the beginning of the month, someone posts a list of words, one for each day of the month. You are then to take a fabulous picture within Instagram that can be associated with that word. You tag the photo with the specified hashtag so others can follow along and see your pictures, and you would also use that tag to find other people who are playing along. Fun, right? Well, I think so. Told you I was a nerd.
One of my favorite blogs, The Idea Room does this every month (if you haven’t checked out her blog, DO IT! It’s so great!), and she herself admits she doesn’t do very well at sticking with the challenge. I think September is a good month for us all to try something new, or finish something that we’ve started. So let’s get a move on and have some fun!
If you want to play along this month, here is the challenge — she has better directions of course, but be sure to add the hashtag #theidearoom to your pictures! You can search on Instagram for the hashtag and you’ll find the challenge there as well. Oh and by the way, if you’re not already following me on Instagram, you can do that while you’re there too. I’ll follow you back!
Day 1 is almost over, but don’t fret! You can start anytime, and can certainly play catch up. No one is going to boo or hiss, I promise. 🙂
