PJ Time

Every night after bath time, we fill up the milk cups and get cozy on the couch to read before tucking in and saying goodnight. The boys are clean, smelling of soap and bubbles, as they scooch in next to me on either side, each with a book in their hand, ready for tonight’s adventure.

Tonight Mommy picked a book, too–extra reading time for extra good sleep.

I love reading devotionals with these guys, it’s just the sweetest thing. To see their eyes light up, feel them snuggle in closer, and hear them respond to questions and say prayers out loud warms my heart to no end, knowing that they are growing in their relationship with Jesus.

Our latest book, PJ Time: 100 Devotions to Light Up the Night, is perfect for them; they are 5 and 8, full of curiosity and wonder, always wanting to learn more about how everything works.

The illustrations are fun and inviting for them, and the message is perfect for their young, growing hearts and minds.

From the publisher:

This delightful devotional for boys and girls ages 4-8 will give kids a fun way to close out the day. Each of the 100 bedtime devotions includes a fascinating topic that explores the wonders that happen at night: sleeping otters holding hands, the moon’s glow, multiplying bubbles at bath time, and saying good night to God. Paired with the devotions are simple prayer starters that will help children learn to talk to God about their specific triumphs, struggles, and questions. Each entry includes cheerful illustrations and a final reflection on how to act out Jesus’ love and truth. PJ Time is a wonderful way to help kids settle down in their favorite PJs, spend time with God, and fall asleep in His peace.

Snuggle up with your kids as they have fun, grow in their faith, and settle down for peaceful sleep knowing that God is always awake.

Indescribable: 100 Devotions About God & Science

Indescribable: 100 (Super Cool) Devotions for Kids

Wouldn’t it be nice to find a really great devotional for kids that spoke to them at their level, and related everything they know about God to everything they know about science in a fun and engaging way?

Indescribable: 100 Devotions About God & Science

FOUND IT!

(Read on to learn more, and you’ll have an opportunity to win one for yourself, too! )

I was recently given the opportunity to check out this new book, Indescribable: 100 Devotions About God & Science, and let me tell you, I was NOT disappointed. I love it, and the real audience (my crazy, geeky, science-loving boys) loves it even MORE. It has been such a blessing for us ever since it landed on our doorstep, and I want to share it with you so you can be blessed by it, too!

We’ve been reading it every night, and you know it’s good because they aren’t satisfied with just reading one devotional; we have to read and discuss at least 5, and they are always so bummed when it’s time to put the book down and go to bed!

Indescribable

First of all, it’s gorgeous — beautifully illustrated with bright colors, so eye-catching it is irresistible. Who wouldn’t want to open this book, it begs to be opened!

It’s even better on the inside. Each devotional is two pages, featuring scripture and a science topic that ties to that bit of scripture perfectly……

… filled with interesting facts and how it all relates to God and the reader. It ends with a lovely prayer to tie it all together.

Our favorite part is the “Be Amazed” section — from which I get a lot of “WHAT?!?” and “No Way!” responses when I read!

The author, Pastor Louie Giglio, invites kids to think about the questions they encounter in day-to-day life and to find God’s glory in creation.

Some of the topics covered:

  • Creation
  • Evolution
  • Animals
  • Dinosaurs
  • Space and the universe
  • Molecules and tiny matter
  • Medical science and medical miracles
  • Our amazing bodies
  • Geology and fossils
  • Weather and the atmosphere

This devotional is unique, engaging (so fun!), and beautifully designed — a must-have for any Christian family, and it would be a great addition to any Christian elementary school classroom, as well!

Indescribable on Amazon It is already a #1 Best Seller in Children’s Christian Prayer Books

From the publisher:

It’s impossible to out-imagine God. He orchestrates time, creates light, and speaks things into existence—from the largest stars to the smallest starfish. God is a powerful, purposeful, personal, unparalleled Creator. Psalm 19:1 says, “The heavens tell the glory of God. And the skies announce what his hands have made.” Indescribable displays the majesty of creation with scientific findings, photography, and original illustrations.

Hope you enjoy as much as we do — it’s brilliant.

Blessings & Happy Holidays!

Valentine, I'm Stuck on You Cards

Valentine, I’m Stuck on You

February. Love Month. Valentine, I'm Stuck on You Cards

You know I love it!

I couldn’t wait to get started on this year’s Valentines for the boys, but I wanted to make it easy and do something personal that I know everyone would love.

I went with my favorite custom shop, Zazzle, to design and print these adorable business card-sized Valentines with stickers featuring my boys! Bonus: They can help me put them together so they can tell all their little friends that they helped make them.

Everyone loves stickers…. and my boys sure do love seeing themselves on a sticker. Valentine, I'm Stuck on You Cards

This is a perfect project if you have multiple kids that you need to shell out Valentine’s for, because you’re ordering a whole box of business cards. I get all my business cards through Zazzle – the quality is great and it’s such a great value!

With my two boys and their classes and friends, we will use most of the box. If you don’t need THAT many cards, consider going in together with another mom — that’s an even better deal and you could have a valentine-making party! Valentine, I'm Stuck on You Cards

The stickers are great – I opted for the heart-shaped stickers, since it is Valentine’s day, but you can get them in circles as well. You could also use regular store-bought stickers, but I think the personal touch makes these cards wayyy more cute and fun! Valentine, I'm Stuck on You Cards

The only supplies you’ll need are some kind of adhesive, such as scrapbooking tape or a tape runner or sticky dots. I had this Scotch double-side tape on hand and it did the trick just fine. Valentine, I'm Stuck on You Cards

I cut out my stickers — you can cut squares or make the effort to cut out around the heart (I did NOT have the patience for that on this day…). Valentine, I'm Stuck on You Cards

My cutie.Valentine, I'm Stuck on You Cards

Place the adhesive on the back of the sticker and then put the sticker on the card where it says “Place Sticker Here” (convenient, right?). Valentine, I'm Stuck on You Cards

Then just have your little one sign his or her name, or do it for them, and you have a super cute Valentine with a sticker that their friends can play with. Valentine, I'm Stuck on You Cards

Be Cool for School with Zazzle

Be Cool for School with Zazzle

Be Cool for School with ZazzleIt’s that time of year when everyone scrambles to get their supplies and clothes and hair-dos just right for going back to school. I love it! Even though I’m not in school anymore (HA! Been a LONG time), I still honor the annual tradition of buying new clothes in the fall — much to my husband’s delight, as you can imagine. 🙂

But now that I have my own kiddos and nephews and nieces, I get to relive the Back to School traditions through them — and you KNOW I have to make sure they have all the cool stuff, right? Right.

That’s where Zazzle comes in to play. So much cool stuff. And the best part is a lot of it can be completely customized and personalized, so your little one will never mistake someone else’s lunchbox for his own, and your eldest won’t lose his gym bag amongst the piles of others in the locker room.

zazzle back to schoolAnd the clothes — who knew Zazzle had such a cool collection of duds for the school set to dress and impress! Here are a few products I wanted to share with you so that your kids can be cool for school, too – just click on the image to get to my Back to School favorites!

Be sure to take advantage of the SALES by going to Zazzle’s offer page and grabbing yourself a coupon code before you shop!

I love the idea of personalized Binders and Notebooks — they are cool AND you know their yours, right? Since everyone shows up with the same ones from the same local stores, your kids should stand out with their own unique supplies!

Cool Dude Binder

This binder can be customized with any text, so you can put a name on it, or a subject and have different ones for each class… AND you can pick from several colors!

I also made one with a girly font – because I’m just girly like that and I think there are others like me out there..

Chalkboard Notebook

Same with this notebook – it’s a good size for taking notes and can be customized in the same manner with any name or subject! You can find the less girly one here.

And now for some #rad and #awesome back to school shirts!

These dudes are ROCKING their Zazzle shirts – are they not totally #rad and #awesome?

Boys especially love their T-Shirts and this one in particular will go over well with all the dudes out there. It comes in a variety of colors as well.

sports gym bag

Sports are always in style – and your kids will be too, with these custom gym bags I designed featuring a variety of sports balls, and an athletic font that can be customized with any name. The bag comes in several colors!

Dry Erase Letter Practice Board

For the little little ones, I created this letter practice wipe-off board for hours and hours of quiet time fun. My little one loves to practice his writing, and marvels at the concept of a dry erase board. Hey – he’s only 3!

lunchbox

I ADORE these lunch boxes – there are so many cute designs available, and I love the little containers inside. Perfect for little ones and big ones alike!

Technology is just a fact of life these days — and kids are surpassing their parents’ knowledge at a very young age! Keep their tablets protected with a super cool case like this one here! With the chalkboard background, it’s ready for school — you can keep the #myipad text or change it to whatever you want, even your name!

Forever Young - Bob Dylan Lyrics - Free Printable

Forever Young by Bob Dylan – Free Printable!

Forever Young Lyrics - Free PrintableI’ve been sitting on this post  for a while – – I meant to post this a loooong time ago! My super cool cousin-in-law contacted me last year about making some nursery art for our other cousin-in-law who was pregnant with her first child.

They love Bob Dylan (baby was aptly named Dylan, by the way), and this song in particular, so she thought it would be a great idea to print out the lyrics for their nursery. I agreed! I thought it was so great, in fact, that I did the same for Vaughn’s nursery…which I haven’t shown you yet… because it’s still in progress… because I’m lazy  I’ve been busy.

Forever Young Lyrics - Free Printable

The lyrics speak to everyone, especially little boys and girls and they totally make me tear up every time I read them. The song itself is beautiful too, you can hear it here. There is another more recent version that is awesome too, by Rhiannon Giddens and Iron & Wine (love), which you can listen to here.

Forever Young Lyrics - Free Printable

While we thought this would be great for a nursery, its perfect for any little’s bedroom or playroom, or heck, put it in the family room!
