AND you can get 30% off right now through Sunday 8/21 using code ZBIGDEALFORU at checkout!

The Backpack

Back to School with ZazzleFirst off, I LOVE these bags from Zazzle – they are lightweight, easy to clean and large enough to hold plenty.

Back to School with ZazzleBack to School with Zazzle

I totally dig these for my littles AND for myself, because hello – these are awesome for the beach, park, gym, wherever. They would make a great sports bag too!

Check out my newest backpack designs here, or peruse the amazing Zazzle gallery of other unique backpack designs. They even have popular Game, Movie and Comic characters for the little fans out there.

The Lunchbox

Next on my list for my dudes was a new lunchbox. Again, I wanted something totally unique for them and I hit the jackpot with these Yubo lunchboxes. Back to School with ZazzleThey are totally customize-able and come in hundreds of designs! Back to School with Zazzle Back to School with Zazzle

What I like the most about these is the fact that the faceplates COME OFF – so if you want a new design, you can just order new plates instead of a whole new lunchbox. Think about the possibilities — different plates for different seasons, or each new school year, etc. They come in other colors besides blue, too! Back to School with ZazzleIt’s all washable, AND it COMES WITH the containers AND the icepack! Back to School with ZazzleSo there you go — everything you need to pack your child’s lunch (or yours for that matter, I may indeed make one for myself). You can find my designs here, or checkout all the cool lunchboxes that Zazzle has to offer here.

Shirts

Let’s talk clothes. Shirts in particular. Kids love shirts with words. Funny sayings, things that express who they are and what they are into… I happen to know a lot of kids that are in to sports. Like, REALLY in to sports. ALL THEY DO is eat, sleep, and play their sports. Back to School with ZazzleEnough said. Check out my collection of back to school shirts here (more to come, I’m adding new designs daily!), or peruse the entire gallery of SO MANY awesome and unique shirts on Zazzle.

Supplies

Have I mentioned that I love all things paper. I love love LOVE notebooks in particular – anything I can write or doodle in makes me SO happy. Back to School with ZazzleGet your child writing with these custom notebooks and journals! Great for taking notes, journaling, keeping scores… you name it.  Check out my favorites here or view the entire collection that Zazzle has to offer!

Back to School with ZazzleIf you have an avid list maker, artist or poet on your hands, these pocket journals are THE BEST! You can customize the outside and choose what type of paper is on the inside: blank, lined, grid or checklist.

I love the idea of customized binders – nowadays the older kids need one for every subject so why not provide them with super cool subject binders. Back to School with Zazzle

You can put any text on them, so you could put their name or initials, the class the binder is for, etc., and they come in 1″, 1.5″ and 2″ sizes. You can find my designs here, or the entire gallery here. You can get popular characters like Superman, Batman and all of your favorite Disney friends!

Unslump Thyself

Crib Bumpers

Custom Designed Baby Crib Bedding

You may have noticed a whole heck of a lot of pictures and projects going on in my neck of the woods if you’re following me in the social realm. I’m going through a creative explosion right now, and I’m enjoying the heck out of it. I am making the MOST out of naptime, people. #momlife

Truth be told, I was in a slump. A big one. Not so much in creativity but more like I was a hot mess — lacking motivation, having the hardest time with the whole work/life balance gig…a real poopy pants, as I like to say. When I don’t get to make, I am NOT a happy camper. inspiration

The problem I have is, I get so focused on making things that I let everything else slide…. my non-creative world falls to pieces. So I change my gears and focus on the house and other SAHM duties, and then I fall back into my poopy pants role.

It’s an endless roller coaster of emotional & creative turmoil.

But, the bottom line is I need to be creative. It’s just who I am. I’ve been waiting for something or someone to hit me in the back of the head and say, “snap out of it!” or “figure it out!”.

Then this beauty landed in my lap and did just that.

bigmagic

My “snap out of it and figure it out” friend

Elizabeth Gilbert hath saved me. She unslumped me. Bless her and all of her wonderfulness and brilliance, because I think she’s a pretty good person to be saved by. :o)

So that’s my secret.

Owl Baby Swaddle & Beanie

Owl Baby Swaddle & Beanie

That’s why you’re seeing all of these things coming out of my feeds, and why you’ll be seeing a bunch of new tutorials coming up soon (yay!).

I’m getting back in to my handmade business, adding a bunch of new product options and features (including taking custom orders!), and just planning to kick some creative ass. I’m going to embrace the creativity in me by scheduling time for it in my SAHM life, getting my butt up earlier, and staying positive about it.

If you’re looking for some inspiration…..permission to be creative…. motivation to get to work and make stuff….. or just confidence to TRY; this book WILL do those things for you.

Especially if you’re in a slump like I was — go unslump thyself as I did….and we can kick some creative ass together!  #fistbump

On The Farm: Cow Themed 1st Birthday Party

On the Farm: Cow Themed 1st Birthday Party

The little man recently turned a year old (!!!), so of course, we had to celebrate. Always itching for an opportunity to design and be crafty, I dove in head first and let everything else go while I was in party planning mode. I then remembered that I have a blog and that I should probably blog about it, so I had to remember to take good pictures, too! #bloggerproblems

Since I did actually think ahead this time, almost everything you see in this post is available either for purchase or as a free printable (yay!). You can find a list of products and links to their source at the bottom of this post! On the Farm: Cow BirthdayI chose a farm theme for Vaughn – his Grandpa is a strawberry farmer, and Vaughn seems to have an affinity for one of his cow toys, so I thought it would be a really cute party and super fun to plan for if we held it at Grandma & Grandpa’s house.

On the Farm: Cow Party - First Birthday

It all started with the invites. I started playing with the cow idea and drew up this cutie. The whole theme unfolded from there with the red font and cow splotches all over the place. 🙂

I loved the tag shaped invite option on Zazzle, so I used that as my canvas, and opted for the natural colored paper instead of white. Much more farm-y, don’t you think?

On the Farm: Cow Party Invite

The back side of the invite has all the details for the party.

invites

When you purchase the invites, they come with plain-jane envelopes. I considered making some cute labels or something, but why go through all that effort when I can design custom envelopes! Right?

On the Farm: Cow Party Envelopes

They even have cow splotches on the inside. Hello Cuteness!

On the Farm: Cow Invite Envelopes

Once I dropped the invites in the mail I started working on all of the fun for the big day. Utilizing Zazzle’s crazy huge selection of customizable goodies, I started adding the party’s mascot to favor boxes, favor tags, paper plates, and a onesie for the birthday boy!

On the Farm: Cow Birthday Favor Boxes

How cute are these little guys?

On the Farm: Cow Birthday Favor Boxes

I really love the tags, and they come with the twine!

On the Farm: Cow Birthday Favor Tags

So my next mission was to figure out what to put in these little boxes for the kiddos that were coming to the party. Amazon to the rescue! Farm themed rubber duckies….

…cow tales…

On the Farm: Cow Birthday Favors

…farm animal STICKERS!

On the Farm: Cow Birthday Favors

I wanted a banner or bunting with Vaughn’s name on it, and decided to just make my own printable bunting, punch some holes in the triangles and string some twine through.

On the Farm: Cow Party BannerWhile I was at it, I made a couple of flags for cake toppers, and some water bottle labels (seriously, I can’t stop once I’m on a roll). All of these are available to print below!

On the Farm: Cow Party Printables

I couldn’t wait for the big day!

On the Farm: Cow Party Display

This display was inside, and Grandma and Grandpa’s house tends to be pretty dark so it was very hard to take decent pictures. The close-ups are better!

On the Farm: Cow Party - Cow CakeGood old Albertsons did an amazing job yet again with the cake! I used bamboo skewers for the cake topper flags (taped them on). I purchased a package of the red bandanas on Amazon to use for decoration and handed them out to the kids as well.

On the Farm: Cow Party - Cow Smash CakeVaughn got his own cake to dive into. And he totally did!

On the Farm: Cow Party - Water BottlesThe printed water bottle labels – they fit on both the mini and regular size Arrowhead water bottles.

On the Farm: Cow Party - Cake PlateseCake Plates!

On the Farm: Cow Party - Milk BottlesI found these milk bottles at Target in the party section, and filled them with jelly bellies (french vanilla and chocolate pudding to be exact).

On the Farm: Cow Party - Favor BoxesMilk BottlesThe favor boxes, all packaged up and ready to go!

On the Farm: Cow Party - Name BannerThe printable name banner with red and white twine. The secondary banner is from Target!

On the Farm: Cow Party - HighChair BannerI found this great chalkboard banner at Target too, along with some chalkboard pens (my new favorite). I wrote the letters and used two types of twine to string through the banner and tape on to the highchair. The highchair is very special – it’s an antique my Mom purchased years ago, and every grandchild has spent ample time in it during their baby days. Vaughn is probably the last one. Certainly from me. LOL

On the Farm: Cow Party Birthday BoyMe and the Birthday Boy! Notice his onesie? 🙂

On the Farm: Cow Party Grandpa’s wagon made a great place to put the presents!

On the Farm: Cow Party Veggies first, then Cake!

On the Farm: Cow Party - Smash CakeYep. I think he likes it.

On the Farm: Cow Party Do you see the remote control in his hand? He wouldn’t put it down… and since it was his birthday, I wasn’t about to take it away from him. Sorry Mom. 🙂

May is almost upon us which means that it is just about time to remind the Moms of the world just how special and amazing they are. I didn’t get it before, not really, but now that I am a Mom, I have the inside scoop. Being a Mom isn’t always easy — it is often hard, stressful, exhausting… but it can also be so amazing, joyful and full of SO MUCH love (it can’t be quantified!). Our Moms deserve props! So now is your chance to tell the Moms in your life that they ROCK, and to thank them for putting up with  loving you and taking such great care of you.

I hand picked a few items from Zazzle to share — some nice things I like and thought other Moms might too. A few of them have a little Stickelberry touch to them, but do check out the enormous selection of amazing gifts on Zazzle’s website — and take advantage of the Mother’s Day sale!

Children's Art Gallery

Children’s Art Gallery

Children's Art GalleryYour child brings home an amazing work of art, so of course you need to hang it up — put it on display for everyone to ooooh and ahhhh at, and to show everyone how proud you are of your little Picasso (and it gives your little ones all the feels). So on the fridge it goes…. but really, your little artiste deserves so much more! So why not create a gallery just for the kiddos?

This is a super simple project for even the not-so-handy, and of course you can personalize or change it up however you want — I’m just giving you the basic idea to get started if you want to make your own.

I chose a wall in the kids’ playroom to do this, where I had the space and where the pieces of art would fit right in with the “decor.”

I found a banner that was double sided, with some funky colors and patterns on one side, and a chalkboard surface on the other. It came with some great twine, but you can always find your own in any color. Children's Art Gallery

You could also make your own bunting using scrapbook paper, use or not use the chalk feature, purchase or print letters on your own, etc. The sky is the limit on this one. Children's Art GalleryI wrote “A”, “R”, and “T” out on the three of the pennants, and strung the twine through the holes. (If you’re using scrapbook paper, you’ll need a hole punch).Children's Art Gallery

To hang up the banner I just used push pins. 🙂pushpins

For the artwork hangers, I found a bag of these cool chalkboard clothespins and decided to take the extra pennants from the banner I wasn’t using and cut out a shape to stick them to. clothespins3

I used my good old standby, the sticky dots. Children's Art Gallery

On the back of that stack I used a mounting square and stuck it to the wall. They come off easily, and leave no marks. 😉 wallmounts3

Cute, right?Children's Art Gallery

My son’s Montessori school does the most beautiful art projects and he is always SO excited to bring a new one home and hang it up in the gallery. When it’s time to retire one, I take a picture of it with my phone and upload it to artkive — this great app that lets you create hardcover books of your kid’s artwork!

The Stickel Art Gallery… featuring the works of Logan G. Stickel.

Children's Art Gallery

Do you have an art gallery or wall for your kiddo’s masterpieces? I would love for you to share them with me!

Until next time!

xoxo, D
